How are we different?

First, we know the credit card merchant processing industry inside and out. Having worked for traditional merchant processing companies for over 10 years, I continued to be surprised at what clients didn’t know about what they were paying for each transaction they processed. At the same time, there was no reason they should; they weren’t “experts” in credit card merchant processing

Many merchant processors “confuse” the issue with clients. How do I know? I was part of that system.

Further, they didn’t know how credit card fees were “broken up”; that is, they had no knowledge of interchange fees, assessment fees, and the markup a processor uses. And, they didn’t understand the various processor pricing models.

When I started Midwest Processing Systems, I made a decision: I’d find the lowest cost merchant processor in the market which also had an easy to use interface. And that’s what we’ve done.

Plus, we would educate our clients so that they could make informed decisions that were in their best interest.

The other observation I had was that typically the people selling clients merchant services are just that…salespeople whose objective seemed to be making the sale. Typically they are entry level people (in and of itself not bad) who are looking to get promoted in their organizations; naturally they have a short term view. Their first interest is not the clients and doing what’s best for them. Additionally, as soon as the sale is made, the client is “handed off” to customer service people. No relationship is established throughout the process.

That’s not our approach. Our 0% attrition rate speaks to the fact that we establish relationships with our clients. Many of our clients have remained with us for years. When they have an issue or a problem, we jump in and get it resolved.
